Pandoras Box

[edit] Background

In Greek mythology, Pandora's Box is a box or large jar that contains all the evils in the world - however, it also carries within it the gift of hope. The box was entrusted to Pandora, the first woman on Earth, by Zeus with strict instructions never to open it; however, Pandora had also been given the gift of curiosity, and ultimately chose to open the box. Whenever it was opened, all the evils of mankind escaped the box; however, Pandora was quick enough to close it and keep hope locked inside.

[edit] God Of War Differences

Pandora's Box is used in a different manner in God of War. In the first game, it is locked away in Pandora's Temple, which in turn is chained to the back of the Titan Cronos. Rather than containing the evil's of mankind, the box instead when opened gives it's owner unbridled power - enough for a mere mortal to be able to kill a God. Ultimately, when Kratos opens the box, it increases his height and stature to that of Ares, allowing him to fight him face to face.
