A famous mythological beast, the Minotaur is part-man and part-bull. Greek mythology states that the Minotaur was housed at the centre of an elaborate maze constructed for King Minos of Crete. In the God of War franchise, the Minotaur is one of the most common enemies encountered by Kratos, and often becomes more powerful in attack and defence as the game progresses. When killed via the 'O' button mini-game it yields health orbs, as Kratos jams the Blades Of Chaos down the beast's throat.
When fighting Theseus in God of War II: Divine Retribution, he summons Minotaurs from the ground to attack Kratos. This references the fact that in Greek mythology it was Theseus who would ultimately kill the Minotaur and lead the Athenians trapped in the labyrinth to safety.
