Ares

Ares, the God of war-like frenzy and bloodlust, is the only son of Zeus and Hera.

[edit] Greek Mythology

Ares was disliked by Zeus from the moment of his birth. After an early incident where he went missing and was captured by Aloadai twins, Hera sent Ares off to live with Priapus, one of the minor deities. He would be the one to train Ares in dance and martial arts. Even though he was given the title of "God of War, Ares lost many battles, and the rivalry he had with his sister Athena (the Goddess of Wisdom and War) intensified over time. His bloodlust would earn him a disrespectful reputation amongst other Gods as he ravaged many cities during his reign.

Ares would eventually develop a relationship with Aphrodite, and the two would bring Harmonia, Phobos, Deimos, and Eros into the world. While Harmonia and Eros grew close with their mother, Phobos and Deimos developed a stronger bond towards Ares and the two would often accompany their father into battle. Ares was well-known during battle for his bright Bronze armor and spear that he always carried. He is the son of Zeus

[edit] God of War

Kratos was a very powerful warrior before his servitude under Ares. He led a powerful Spartan army, but a day came when they went to battle with the Barbarian Army, and the Spartans were outmatched. Kratos faced death at the hands of the Barbarian King, but at the last instant begged for help from Ares, offering his life up in return. Ares then struck down from the sky, killing all of the Barbarians. He then made Kratos his slave, empowering him with the Blades of Chaos.

Ares ordered Kratos to destroy many villages on his way to conquering Greece. During one attack, Kratos invaded an temple dedicated to Athena and killed all of the people within it, including his wife and daughter. Ares insisted that this was necessary for Kratos to continue his journey, but the moment would scare the young warrior forever. After killing his family, Kratos' body became covered in their ashes, turning his skin completely white. It was a reminder of the great sin he had committed. From that day forward, Kratos swore revenge against Ares.

After a dangerous assault by Ares upon the city of Athens, Athena came to the aid of Kratos, telling him that he needed Pandora's Box if he hoped to defeat Ares. Once retreiving it from Pandora's Temple, Kratos became impaled against a wall by a giant spear. It was thrown by Ares from Athens across the Desert of Lost Souls. Ares then claimed control over Pandora's Box.

Ares threatened to use Pandora's Box against the Gods themselves atop Mount Olympus. This led Zeus and company to rescue Kratos from the Underworld, placing him before Ares. Kratos was able to snatch Pandora's Box away from Ares and after opening it, he felt a great power build within him as he know had the strength to battle the God of War. Kratos was eventually able to gain the upper hand and defeat Ares, sending him to his death. Kratos was then granted to title of God of War and was given a seat in Olympus.

[edit] Powers & Abilities

Ares was a very powerful God. He had telekenisis-like powers, being able to pick up and control individuals, oftentimes snapping them in two or using other brutal methods to end their lives. Ares could also throw fireballs from the skies, and could materalize many different weapons out of thin air. Ares also had superhuman strength that could cause instant destruction to entire cities.

Even though he was an Immortal, Ares had great weaknesses to the Blade of Olympus and Pandora's Box. Both were able to kill the powerful God.
